Parish Council
A report from the Teams meeting with the Police 6th September 2023. I am awaiting the notes of the meeting, but I can bullet point a few items:
– the Police are trying to improve their community presence. This includes the morning opening of the public access desk in Okehampton soon. Also they have Facebook pages and phone numbers which I think I shared with other Councillors. These are not for general public use.
– they will try to increase their presence but resources are limited and have to be targeted to where there are significant problems.
– West Devon continues to have the lowest levels of crime in the Force. The summer period was particularly quiet. That doesn’t mean that that there aren’t concerns; especially with some social disorder, some drug offences and some concern for theft from isolated agricultural areas.
– the Police are trying to work with other agencies to share expertise etc. They welcome intelligence and informal information. They are happy to come to public events, as they found meeting people at the Okehampton/Chagford Shows were useful.
