June Annual Parish Meeting

Everyone approved of the plans and the name change to clarify what the space is.

It’s now known at Sticklepath Moor Nature Reserve.

Parish Council

We have approval and terms of reference to create a committee to safeguard the long-term planning and care of the space.

Now looking for members to be part of that committee.

DNPA

Finally managed to get the original management plans from DNPA which ran from 2015 to 2019 – management then dropped off during covid.

Kit (local Dartmoor ranger) came out to site again last week to go through your docs and the DNPA plans and to come up with a way forward together.

Potential to get Youth Rangers to come in and undertake some scrub clearance. We now also have names of local farmers/commoners who may be able to help with swaling.

FiPL

Bea from DNPA is coming across on Wednesday to talk about potential funding, which they seem keen to support.

Thought I’d give her a tour to show what we’re trying to achieve. Looking to get money for signage/stream works etc.

Work

We’ve undertaken the first bit of work since we spoke earlier this year, as part of the Sticklepath Village Work Day. We cleared the entrance and access tracks and undertook some coppicing. Hopefully this sets the scene for things to come. Also planted those elms with biodegradable tree tubes.
