Parish Council
Despite the early rain, the weather improved for most of the volunteers who came forward to work on one of the task areas during the morning. 31 volunteers offered their time, with 3-4 coming from out of the village area, and there were a number of children with their parents/carers.
The National Trust staff; Dom and Frank supervised the Leat cleaning, with some heavy work but it was also enjoyed by some young people who had their chance to walk the leat.
Jake supervised the attachment to Sticklepath Moor, but importantly Malcolm and Lauren gave an introduction to the flora and fauna that has been surveyed over the last few weeks. Some of the other ecologists that have been recruited to the project couldn’t make the work day, but were able to contribute their thoughts about future plans for the site. More details will be shared within Sticklepath Moor Committee reports.
Ged and Beth supervised work on the Millenium Garden, and Wendy took a lead on weeding around the Bus Stops. Janet Wright cleared areas of Back Lane, which included removal of overhanging branches. Alan Wright took on the First Aid lead, and reported that there were no reported concerns.
Not all tasks on the work programme were fully completed, and could roll forward to the Autumn Work Day, if that takes place.
We are grateful to StOC for lending us tools for the day, although these are temporarily stored elsewhere until their new hut has been completed. Some residents agreed to bring their own additional tools to make sure the tasks could be tackled.
Refreshments were provided by the National Trust at lunchtime. There will be no additional costs to the Parish Council.

NB We were informed by NT staff that there will be extensive repair work to the launde at the back of the foundry in March. This will involve closing the entrance for a few weeks.
