Clerk’s Report to Sticklepath Parish Council February 2023

General Tasks

  • I have forwarded lots of emails to the councillors, and read others which proved to not be of interest to Sticklepath.
  • I have updated the electoral register with changes received from West Devon Borough Council (WDBC), nine electors were removed from the roll in January. Four of these appeared to be a single person from a family leaving, however we would hope that we will get replacement registrations from the others.
  • I have consulted the Councillors on a Tree Works Application from Dartmoor National Park regarding Longacre (Ref 23-003) and returned the agreed response of ‘No Objection’.
  • I have written and submitted a short article for the February Beacon.
  • I have responded to the Telecoms Pre-planning consultation to let them know Willey Farm is not in our Parish.
  • Unfortunately the Belstone Village Hall committee, who administer the Belstone defibrillator, have decided that they do not want to share spare pads with Sticklepath.
  • I have invited a resident to give a report about Green Energy to the Annual Parish Meeting.
  • I have invited Josh Scillitoe, the Neighbourhood Highways Officer, to give a report to the Annual Parish Meeting, and asked him about a 20 is Plenty sign that Cllr Bell found.
  • I have publicised a rural cost of living survey on the website.
  • Details of the meeting that I attended on Community Speedwatch are in a separate report.

Training

  • I have attended training on Parish Council Elections, paid for by Belstone Parish Council.

Budget

  • I have requested the precept of £6,088.
  • We have received an estimate from West Country Grounds Maintenance to say that next year’s costs will be increasing by 5%. Luckily the figures quoted will come in below the budgeted amounts. Apart from weed spraying, which we are not planning to do. Next year we need to check these figures before we do the budget.
