Road Warden’s Report November 2023

Road Warden Report – 2nd November 2023

Village Day (21st October 2023)

It was another successful Village Day even though the weather was not so pleasant. We focused on tidying up the area around Millenium Garden, the Bus Stop up by the Old School and a couple of excellent people armed with spades helped to clear the leaves from the Devonshire Haunch on Willey Lane. I have already expressed additional special thanks to a number of individuals who offered their support and gave up their own time to support the village but I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate my gratitude and sincere thanks to all those who participated in this event.

The Overgrown Hedge

I want to thank everyone who has been able to express their opinion referring to this matter.

I have listened to a number of residents who have expressed their concerns concerning the level of obstruction provided by the Overgrown Hedge. We took another look at the Hedge as requested and we both came to the conclusion that the hedge posed an increasing obstruction, particularly to pedestrians, pushchairs and restricted disabled access. The hedge has grown significantly so needs attention. A decision was made, therefore, to escalate this issue and not to wait until the New Year before trimming the hedge as requested in the previous Parish Council meeting.

I contacted the Highways Officer as requested and sent him some pictures of the Hedge and conveyed the results of our recent viewing of the hedge. He agreed to send out the Vegetation Letter and has since sent me a copy by email attachment so that I can deliver it directly to the resident. I have done this. The resident will have 14 days to respond to the letter.

SPC to approve for remedial action to take place for the hedge to be trimmed should the 14 day period expire.

Signage on Roads on the East side of the Village

A resident in the village has made me aware of two signs which have potentially gone missing in the Village. One is the Stop sign on the Back Road past the Old Dairy, which leads up past Reddaways and the other sign is the Turn left sign which was on the main road just above the Overgrown hedge (photos enclosed).

SPC to consider action to be taken about these two signs.
