Road Warden Report – 7th October 2024
We had a successful Village Work Day. We had 16 people who volunteered to help with some of the tasks in the village which needed doing.
We cut back the bracken and cleared most of the pavement up by the old school. Another resident cleaned the road signs and helped to start tidying up the bus stops on the west side of the village. Another team of residents mowed back some of the verge up from Skaigh Lane and started to sow some wildflowers which will help with managing the weed growth on that side of the road. The resident who lives opposite Skaigh Lane has given us permission to mow back the verge and put another section of wildflowers there too. Work too was done to the wall in St. Marys Churchyard and it is nearly completely devoid of any ivy. Another group of people helped out at the Millenium Garden helping to clear and tidy away. A team of people also helped to clear away the haunch in Willey Lane. There were also plenty of other villagers either side of the Work Day who helped out to do other tasks in the village. A huge thank you to all who helped.
Notifications:
- There is a dead ash tree on the verge on the west side of the village. Highways have been notified.
- Lower Back Lane – Highways have been informed. They have suggested that we speak to the landowners from each side of the Lane and suggest politely to them that vegetation could do with trimming back.
- Pothole near the Devonshire Inn – a pothole which has recently been repaired is undoing. Highways have been notified.
- Future Tasks:
- The Bus Stops on the West side need serious tidying. I am happy to help but we need a team of people to spend a couple of hours clearing debris away.
- Working with Highways to provide me with an itinerary for the Road Sweeper team in the region so that we can inform residents to clear the road to enable a complete sweep.
- We are fast approaching the busiest time in the year for clearing leaves and vegetation off the kerbside to ensure good runoff and open drainage systems in our Parish. Keep an eye out for the drains in the Parish getting full. Keep me informed.
- I continue to notify Highways about the need to repair the main highway and to complete repairs of Willey Lane.
- Street light on West side of the village continues to be malfunctioning. I will try again to inform Highways.
