Parish Council

Would you be interested in taking action on speeding drivers? There is a community-based scheme where volunteers can be trained to use a speed gun to record the speeds at which cars are travelling, resulting in warnings and action by the police. It has been shown to change drivers’ behaviour, and cuts down on uninsured cars.
Volunteers join teams who spend an hour or so at the roadside when they are available. Okehampton and surrounding areas are joining together to provide a bank of people who can either participate locally or in other villages to take action on speeding. All equipment and training will be provided. If you are interested in finding out more, read the website at communityspeedwatch.org or speak to a local councillor or Sticklepath Parish Clerk, Sally Fullwood (07855 959554).
