Local Government Reorganisation in Devon
Currently we have both Devon County Council and West Devon District Council running different services in our area, but Devon’s future organisation could be different.
The government wants to abolish County and District Councils, and instead have single unitary councils, some of them led by Mayors. There are several plans ranging from a county-wide authority to an option where the Okehampton area would be linked to Torbay and South Hams. Ultimately it will be the government’s choice about what local government structure it wants applied.
Devon County Council have a survey to try to gather people’s opinions and are encouraging people to complete their survey here. The link will also help you to find more information about the reorganisation.
